Shear Madness/Locks of Love Event!

As you have probably heard, Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that uses donated locks of your real hair to make real wigs for children in need. Whether they suffer from Alopecia or are going through Chemotherapy, all children under the age of 21 years in the United States and Canada are eligible to receive these high-quality hair prosthesis.

The only requirements for you to become one of the Diva-licious Donors who gets their locks knocked off this February is to be able to part with at least 10-inches of your luscious love-locks (all at once)! We know that sounds a little daunting to those of you who’ve grown your hair out to those amazing lengths, but what you may not realize is that it takes THIRTEEN people to donate their hair in order to help just one child who doesn’t have any of their own. And when we say “TEN INCHES” this doesn’t mean you have to measure each and EVERY strand to reach that goal. But it does mean that once you pull all your hair into a rubber band, we are able to measure at least those ten inches from end-to-end amongst the donated lock.

Entries can be anonymous or documented (we will have the necessary paperwork available for you the day of the event, should you choose to send a bio of yourself with your hair). All that we ask is that your hair be clean, and untreated chemically (so no perms, dyes, or harsh chlorination) in order to send it.

The event will take place on Saturday, February 18th, 2012 at 5pm at the Olathe and Leawood Shear Madness locations. Our stylists will be able to prepare (with patience and precision) your heartfelt hair donation for a successful snip, and will have special Valentine’s bags to accompany and accessorize your extraordinary gift. We hope to make as many little boys and girls feel our LOVE as possible, so we encourage all who are interested to take the plunge—-it will be the cheapest haircut of your life! All our stylists are donating their time and doing the clips for free! We just ask that you make your appointment in advance!
